Malden Hall is a modern building of 10 flats – that’s Brit-speak for apartments – styled to suit 40 students who want a calm atmosphere for study but also want to enjoy life inside and outside the university.

Each flat has up to four fully furnished individual private study-bedrooms and en-suite shower rooms plus a communal kitchen – a great chance to bond and try different foods!

Malden Hall is specifically reserved for students at Kingston and Roehampton Universities, is only 15 minutes or so by bus from the Kingston Hill and Roehampton campuses, and 25 minutes by train from London Waterloo. There are lots of shops and restaurants near by too.

“I have really enjoyed my year at Malden Hall. Great location for all the Kingston University campuses and close to shops and the station for travel into London.

I found everything to be as described and will be highly recommending Malden Hall to my friends – I wish I could stay."
Emma, UK – 2016 / 2017.

Malden Hall was re-built in 2011/12 to increase accommodation from 22 to 40, based on its previous, successful, style of small clusters of self-contained flats shared by up to four students with individual study-bedrooms and communal kitchens.

“The quiet environment, the proximity to Kingston University and a fast internet connection provide excellent conditions for studying. I also really appreciated the Korean, Indian and Italian restaurants, all of which are within three minutes’ walk.

“If you are looking for a nice, modern flat you are very well-advised to apply for one in Malden Hall. I’ve really enjoyed my time here!”
Clemens, Switzerland – 2014 / 2015.

What does each flat contain?

Up to four fully furnished study-bedrooms with a bed, desk, chair, wardrobe and bookshelf plus en-suite shower room, wash basin and toilet. All rooms have up to 100 Mbps ethernet connections, double glazing and good insulation.

All the kitchen / dining rooms have a fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and iron. ‘Boring things’ like a vacuum cleaner, ironing board and basic cleaning equipment (dustpan and brush, mop, bucket and broom) are also provided.

Security and other stuff

As you would expect, we take security very seriously, with CC TV and entry phone for added security. Each flat has its own individually named mailbox.

There’s lift access to flats 6 to 10, a separate laundry room with coin operated washing machines and dryers open 24/7 and, outside, a secure bike storage block.

Getting to know one another

Even if you’ve already had three years at uni, going to a new place, especially if it’s your first time in the UK or away from home, is bound to be unsettling.

So to help you, we’ve devised a quick way for you to ‘meet’ other students – once a flat is filled, we e-mail each tenant with the contact details of their fellow residents.

The same goes for students in different flats coming from the same country.

By the time you arrive at Malden Hall, you should already have been able to contact quite a few other students.

It’s one of the many things which makes Malden Hall special – as former residents keep telling us: see our Testimonials page.
